We are working towards a world in which people can explore their relationships to each other and the complex ecologies they exist within, in ways that are more hopeful and less polarised.
To do this, we specialise in the participatory mapping and playing of complex systems, and creating the conditions to imagine alternative futures and infrastructures.
We work with civil society, the public sector, activists and academia:
Designing mapping toolkits for communities to build their own datasets and understanding, and ways for that data to influence policy.
Creating imaginative and immersive public space games for people to explore the complexity of our physical world.
Working with funders and policymakers who want tools for thinking in systems and for creating deeper participation.

We help people to rediscover their agency within complex systems
We believe stronger connections will enable more hopeful futures
We use play and relational methodologies to enable agency, and to imagine and construct new ways of being
.. And new activities & behaviours are only attractive if they offer connection and fun
The technologies we make always direct people to real world interaction
We foster deep partnerships with practitioners to enable tangible outcomes in the problems we engage with
We are transparent about what works and what is hype
We run as flat an organisation as we can, empowering our staff
We use our commercial arm to subsidise our social value work

Our design approach is informed by our values.
(People say) we are fun to work with.
We break new ground with our technologies- and we make sure everyone's invited to benefit.
We make sure that the purpose, delivery and impact of our technologies are aligned.
We've been around a long time and know our stuff.

“If you want to truly understand something try to change it.” –Kurt Lewin
It gives people freedoms & powers not normally available to them.
It permits experimentation, so people can explore different ways of being in the world.
It encourages co-operative and collective behaviours.
It invites people to imagine different worlds and futures.

Are for asking better questions, not for serving up solutions.
Never extract data or are opaque in how they use data.
Are always employed thoughtfully in the service of human (and more than human) needs.
We expect the work to begin properly when our technologies are used on the ground: complex problems demand a continual reflection and re-orientation of how we design and deliver of our technologies- we are not interested in ‘flattening’ the problem or thinking in solutions.
